We have an abundance of amazingly sweet and flavorful apples from our apple trees on the farm. During the fall, we can’t get enough of all the delicous apple dessert. Whether its Peanut Butter Apple Crisp, Caramel Apple Monkey Bread or our family’s all-time favorite, Salted Caramel Apples, there are a countless different ways to enjoy the perfect fall fruit. This year I decided to change things up and create a new recipe, Apple Pecan Custard Dessert, using my new Braun MultiMix, and boy oh boy was it good!

The best part about this Apple Custard Dessert is that despite it having multiple layers, including a homemade streusel, it only requires one small appliance! The Braun MultiMix Hand Mixer is my favorite new addition to my kitchen. This hand mixer includes traditional stainless steel beaters as well as dough hooks that can both be stored in the convenient accessory storage bag that is included.

The hand mixer is designed with an in-line vertical motor that keeps the weight directed into the bowl, offering less stress on your hand while mixing. Along with it’s Soft Grip Plus, it keeps you comfortably in control. My absolute favorite design feature is how easy to clean it is, with no visible air vents, screw holes or seams, it makes cleanup a breeze with just a quick wipe of a washcloth!

You guys, I have been holding out on you and been saving the best part for last. Not only is it a great hand mixer, but most importantly it includes a small food processor attachment! There are so many times when I avoid a recipe because I don’t want to have to lug out my big over sized food processor. Needless to say, my old one has disappeared from my kitchen and it’s place has now been taken with the much more compact and versatile Braun MultiMix!

Whether you want to chop some nuts, whip up a quick pesto or make this streusel, this food processor attachment is a game changer. Just flip the switch on the bottom of the mixer to close the beater holes and open the food processor opening. It snaps in place and works like a charm. I have used this countless times already and the cleanup is an absolute dream!

Ingredients

Crust
1 pouch 1 lb 1.5 oz Betty Crocker sugar cookie mix
1/2 c. Butter softened
2 T Flour
1 Egg
Filling
6 c. baking apples peeled and chopped
lemon juice
4 eggs
3/4 c. granulated sugar
1 c. heavy whipping cream
½ tsp. salt
1/2 c. flour divided
Streusel
1/2 c. brown sugar
2/3 c. pecans
1/3 c. flour
2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 c. cold butter chopped into small cubes

Steps

Preheat the oven to 350°.
Spray the bottom of a 9x13 in pan with non-stick cooking spray.
In medium bowl, add the cookie mix, butter, flour, and one egg. Beat the mixture until it is crumbly and well combined. Press the mixture into the sprayed pan and set aside.
Peel and cut the apples into cold water mixed with a few tablespoons of lemon juice.
Meanwhile, In a medium bowl, beat the eggs, sugar, cream, salt and 1/4 c. flour until smooth.
Drain the apples and toss them in the remaining 1/4 c. flour. Layer the floured apples over the sugar cookie crust. Pour the custard over the apples.
In your food processor, add all of the streusel ingredients and process just until it is a dry crumbly consistency. Sprinkle the streusel mixture over the apples and custard.
OPTIONAL - Sprinkle extra chopped pecans on the top.
Bake at 350° for 50-60 minutes (the center will still be slightly jiggly, but the edges should be set) Allow to cool to room temperature before serving.
Store leftovers refrigerated.
