Pillsbury Crescent Roll Recipe with Turkey

I like to keep a tube of Pillsbury crescent rolls in my refrigerator because when I’m looking for a quick and easy weeknight dinner recipe, they always come through! From hot ham & cheese roll ups to cheesy chicken pot pie casserole, there are so many delicious possibilities. These Turkey Bacon Swiss Crescent Rolls are no exception!

Crescent Rolls & Leftover Turkey

The best part of this simple turkey crescent roll recipe is that it uses up leftover ingredients in a mouthwatering bite of flakey and savory goodness. If you don’t have any leftover turkey, you can absolutely use deli turkey or some leftover chicken as a substitution.

This crescent roll is also a great way to use up some leftover bacon from your weekend brunch. I know it is hard to imagine having leftover bacon, but sometimes my Mom makes so much that this unthinkable event does occur.

No worries if you don’t have any leftover cooked bacon though. You can simply make bacon in the microwave while you are assembling your turkey crescent rolls. If you are cooking bacon just for this recipe, partially cook it so it is about 80% done. This allows it to get nice and crispy while baking with the crescent rolls, but not burnt.

How to make Turkey & Cheese Crescent Rolls

With only 5 simple ingredients, these turkey crescent rolls are incredibly easy to make. To get started, you will need the following

8 ounces deli sliced turkey -OR- 2 cups leftover turkey

10 ounce package (8 slices) slices swiss cheese – (use the good stuff, not processed cheese)

1 tube Pillsbury crescent rolls

8 slices cooked bacon

1 Tablespoon sesame seeds, optional

When it comes to crescent rolls, I really do recommend going for the Pillsbury brand. I’m normally all about saving a few dollars and getting off brand ingredients and feel like they normally taste the same as the name brand. In this case, any off brand crescents I have tried just don’t have quite the same texture. They are never as flakey.

As for the turkey, you can load up the crescents with as much or as little turkey as you’d like. If you are using deli slices, one slice will suffice. If you are using thick cut leftover turkey, you will end up using more turkey in each crescent roll.

Assembling Turkey Crescent Rolls

Smash your tube of crescents on the side of the table to open it up. Isn’t that one of the most satisfying things?! Pull the crescents apart at the perforations and arrange the 8 crescents on a greased sheet pan.

Top the wider end of each crescent with turkey, 1/2 slice of Swiss cheese and one slice of cooked bacon. Roll up the crescent and top with a sprinkle of optional sesame seeds. You can totally skip this part, but it adds a nice look and a tiny bit of flavor to the crescent rolls.

Bake at 350° for 20-25 minutes. Remove the flakey turkey crescents from the oven and serve hot!

What to serve with turkey crescent rolls

These hand held turkey crescent rolls are a fantastic lunch or light dinner all on their own. If you want to round out your meal with a vegetable or side dish, here are a few great recipe ideas.

Easy Oven Roasted Carrots – This is one of my favorite ways to enjoy a simple vegetable side dish

Asparagus Feta & Quinoa Salad – This fresh and wholesome side makes a great side and you can use the leftovers with some rotisserie chicken for a light lunch.

Honey Roasted Carrots & Beets – If you want to load up on veggies in one easy recipe, these roasted carrots and beets are a must try.

Spiralized Apples Salad – With the heaviness of turkey bacon and swiss crescents, balance things out with this light and refreshing apple salad with cranberries, goat cheese and pecans.
